7mmreloaderPowder Question
Is Hodgdon 800-X Hi-Skor the same powder as IMR 800-X Hi-Skor? No sarcasm please.

StonecreekThe conditional answer is "yes". Hodgdon, which took over the distribution of IMR powders, has renamed several of them from "IMR" (which was formerly "DuPont") to "Hodgdon".
The reason for the "conditional" answer is that exact powder formulations change over the years, as does the situs of their manufacture. So a powder from twenty years ago may not be identical to a powder using that same designation today. However, the data for each is
supposed to be the same, although there will typically be some small variations in how different versions of the same powder behave.

wetibbeHere's the history of Hodgdon/IMR.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hodgdon_Powder_CompanyHere's more:
http://www.midwayusa.com/produ...0-x-smokeless-powderHodgdon Hi-Skor 800X is a pretty fast powder ranking # 38 on scale. For pistol and shotgun.
The powder company's are tricky and non-disclosatory so it is highly unlikely that a straight answer will ever be obtained.
The specifications would be the same, so they would be the same to the degree that any lot of powder is the "same" as a previous lot.
The main concern with old data is it was generated with CUP testing and not real-time pressure transducers, so the old data will often be hotter and over the existing SAAMI limits.
