Looking for brass
Where are some of the largest sources of once fired brass in the US, namely 223.

I am looking to purchase some large quantities and curious where to source it. I am thinking some of the larger shooting schools might be a source.

Thanks,

Greg

I was hoping not off a retailer, hopefully off another source cheaper than retail.

I have about 15,000 for sale but shipping to Canada would be quite high

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Range brass, it's free. Mostly dirty, military stuff but there are gems in that there pile of poo! It never ceases to amaze me what people chuck, fed & rem 270, lapua 308 and a ton of nostler 223 to name but a few. I got some norma in 6.5x55 the other month, marvelous!

Thanks guys.

I am looking at maybe starting a business and need "lots" of brass. Was hoping once fired stuff from a clean range south of the border.

I thought I would just post this on here to see if anyone had any contacts.

albert - if you can find a contact in law enforcement or military - when they are done at the ranges there is usually a big bunch of brass left. thing is there is usually one of the guys there that grabs it. you gotta find that guy

butchloc,

That is exactly what I am talking about. I just thought I would post something on here to see if anyone knew anyone like that.

I need lots of clean once fired, not just 1000 or so. 100k and up.

Trying all my resources.

I can tell you, when I shoot at a busy range my reloadable brass ammo stays in the boxes. There are always lurkers that are picking up brass that the shooter wanted. I always dump a bunch of Berdan primed ammo just so some lurker will hopefully bust a decapping pin trying to reload it. If I had a line on 10k of almost free brass, I'd sell it.

Jpat,

Wow, you seem like a nice guy. I am sure those guys that scrounge at the range appreciate your humour.

So everyone understands, I am looking for a "low cost" source of 223 brass. Not free! I know that nothing is for free and if it is, it comes with a price tag like guys like you.

I wasn't aware that military brass left the reservations other than through a certified surplus

auction under DRMS control.

Things have changed and will be under intense scrutiny with Homeland security and DRMS DoD

especially after Ft. Hood incident ( even though that had Nothing to do with this ,it does effect this )

I don't wish to start unfounded rumors and say that UP FRONT !.

One of a few Items that seems to be extremely difficult to pin down or obtain information on

through previous auctions prior bid awarding postings : SMALL ARMS FIRED BRASS / O Demil Brass .

Seems to be conspicuously absent as to whom or where if it was awarded ?. Eeker archer archer archer

Doc,

I believe you are correct. It is more obtainable if I could find a school/training centre for civies that sold off once fired brass.
