Midway!
Hello,
I was just informed that Midway is going to start charging for shipping, and are going to lower the purchase price on their goods. My initial response to this was not very positive.

Shawn460I agree that this is probably not a good change. They also plan on charging for backorders at $4 or $6 per order. The main items that I order from Midway are bullets, which I expect will now cost a little more than they used to since the old shipping charges were averaged out over all items regardless of weight. Thats my 2 cents.

Since Midway is now charging shipping cost I suggest everybody check out Natchez Shooting. Their prices are nearly as good as Midway's and they charge less for shipping than Midway intends to.

<George Capriola>I'd have to look at their catalog and compare prices. I usually shop at Lock, Stock & Barrel, Midsouth Shooters Supply, and Sinclair because Midway is usually $10 higher in price across the board. So much for "free shipping", I suppose. I'm expecting their pricing to be a little more competitive, now.
Regards, George.

Dead Eye JrWell I have looked at the web site and I do not see the big discounts that Midway said they made. I see a buck or two on some things. Redding dies are still the same price. I think I will go to my local guy and just give him all my bys. I THINK IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO YOU SHOULD E-MAIL LARRY AND EXPRESS THE NEG FEELING ON THE CHANGE.

<Bill Telesz>There is also a $40.00 minimum order or you will be charged $4.00 extra. Not much of a deal anymore.

<Powderman>Well, I guess that Midway had to do it sooner or later--that is, fall in line with some of the other companies.
I buy 99% of my stuff from two different places now.
Brownell's--first stop for gun parts and tools. If you buy this stuff from anywhere else, boy, are you missing out!! Check them out at:
www.brownells.com
Widener's in Tennessee has great deals on components, and surplus bullets for blasting away with your milsurp rifle. They're at:
www.wideners.com
For military match bullets, brass, and other goodies, check out Jeff Bartlett at:
www.gibrass.com
What a shame. Midway needs to wake up.

<Gary Rihn>Midway has been showing signs of trouble for some time now. i.e. Closing down/selling off Fajen inventory, etc, only a year or two after buying it. Prices were never great. The "free shipping" was a gimmick. The prices were high enough to more than cover it. Now they're raising the minimum? What's the logic there, now that the buyer pays shipping? I could see it before, have a couple bucks built into each item, then with a minimum order you have "tacked on" enough shipping "override" to make it profitable, for Midway at least.
Still, I'm sorry to see any gun/shooting related company fail.

Robert D. LyonsI checked on Sierra .308 150 gr SBT bullets. The previous price was $18.99, the new price is $15.49. A reduction of $3.50. Shipping is never really free since it is factored into the cost of the product.

Alex SzaboWhy not form a consortium, install infrastructure, buy & sell products and compete against all of them? That way we could "call the shots".
Best regards,
Alex

<Blueowl>Lockstock.com has better prices and I have found their service to be good, too. Midway prices are not really competitive on their new deal.

Rich AndersonI recently ordered 100rds of brass for 22-250, 243, 500 bullets for the 22-250 and 100 Nosler ballistic tips for the 243. Midway was $30 more than Midsouth and that was befor Midway changed policies! It pays to shop around.
