Ruger #1 45/70 and Barnes 450 grain triple shocks.
I was looking at some of these today and I was wondering if anyone has worked up a load for a Runger no 1 for these bullets.

You can't. They are too long to fit in the 45-70 case, the Ruger's throat is too short, and you won't get any velocity out of them.

If you go to the northfork bullets site, they have 350gr flatpoint bonded and some regular shaped bullets of different weights. Same concept as the TSX with the bands, but they are not monometal bullets. Not the bullet weight you were looking for, but just offering alternatives. If you want some real kickin penetrators, call them. They have monometal flat point solids and cup points for about the same price, but they are not shown or mentioned on the website. You have to call or E mail. The driving bands are a little different on the monometals than the soft points, more along the lines of a GS Custom flat point. He even offers sample packs of 5 for 5 bucks for testing.

For a stopper, I might recommend the Cast Performance 405 gas check bullet, over IMR 3031 - w/ no crimp.

It's accurrate in my #1, & I can't imagine anything in N. America standing up to it.
