Ultraman**.270 Ackley**-any experiences welcomed
just finished this project for lack of nothing better to do. Had a shilen select match that i was not happy with the chamber job on and rechambered to an Ackly of one of my favorites .270. Load development so far is showing best groups with the exact same loads that worked before (58.5gr 4831 under a 135gr sierra Matchking giving 3/4moa 5-shots) When I up that a 1/2-full grain over, groups go straight to hell but giving no pressure signs. Have any of you played with this round? Thank you

pointblankNope, but I'll bet its real similar to the 280AI, but with a whole lot less bullets to choose from

woodsDon't have any direct experience with the AI in 270, but with my 270 I got excellent results with the 140 gr TSX pushed at max and a little over. That took 59.3 gr IMR4831 and got 3200 fps. Primer pockets would loosen on the 3rd or 4th loading so I had to back down.
The reason I'm telling you this is because this bullet seems to love to be pushed a little faster than the regular 270 can push it. Might work real well in a 270 AI.

eddieharrenThere is an excellent article on the 270AI in the Oct. issue of Precision Shooting magazine.

They work real well in my dad's .270 WSM over H1000. Might be worth a try.

Which 4831 are you using. When you say over max are you talking about the 270 or 270AI? The AI max will be around 4% higher than the 270.
