I think you have a good start. However being like a lot of men and being red/green colored blind I have trouble with many of your backgrounds and fonts. If in doubt keep it simple.

When it first starts up there is yellow print on white background that my brain cannot interpret the contrast.
That only lasts for a second, and then the darker background comes up, and I can read.

I enjoyed the read, and agree with the rest of the replys. Since you asked, one thing I would find helpful would be to break your text into smaller paragraphs. It may just be me, but I tend to get distracted, disturbed, pulled away from the screen a lot, and having more and smaller paragraphs helps me to know where I was, or gives me a place to stop and come back to. The content is dead-on.
