The 320 grn. protected point is on sale for like 48 bucks. I am considering either the round nose at Huntingtons or these.

I wonder what is the actual performance in the field betwixt these two? I am partial to the idea of the round nose-frontal is larger.

In my 9,3x62 if I can reach 2200fps in my VZ24 would the round nose be a better option than the protected pointy one? Sectional density is like .342 or something like that so penetration is not in question.

Do these heavy weight Woodleighs open up reliably, for instance Interior Grizzlies? I am referring to the big boys that are close 2nd to the coastal cousins.

I took out a 400 lb'er grizz with the 286 Partition not long back so that field trial is quite reliable as my first experience with the 9,3 x62.

This rifle/caliber is ever becoming a go to in the boat or in the field carry without a doubt. Wife seen the shot and now has handled it a couple of times-uhoh!

Could you please enquire for us at what pressure level it is achieved? 2,300 fps is the norm for 286 gr bullets with most powders world wide. I know that Norma pushed their 286 gr load to 2,360 fps, but taking a 320 gr bullet up to 2,300 fps seems a bit high to me. I am really curious to know the pressure. Ask them in Swedish.

i am innocent it is norma . they load the 9,3x62 with 325 grain oryx bonded bullet@2300 fps according the norma's website. i have no idea which kind of powder and charging they use. but if norma says 2300 fps i am sure it will clock exactly the same or sometimes may be more on your chrony.

If you're worried about hitting 2300 fps w/ the big 320 gr bullet, try Ramshot Big Game. I use it to hit 2490 w/ my 286 gr Partitions in my x62 CZ550 American with the 23.6" barrel.

If you can't find the charge weight, email Ramshot directly. The did respond to my request for the aforementioned load.

Do you have time to share your 286 Partition Grizzly story?

it is not the glamorous story you may have encountered in the past in other reads. long story short. crawled up to the bear at approx. 100yds. in the open I had the wind, layed out in prone position, bear coming to me feeding, presented a shoulder shot and booooooom! shot the sonofgun in the damn ankle! cheesh! did not know that until I skinned it out, it stood up like I missed it and then aimed between the tittys and booooooom! once again and the boar dropped on all four, hesitated and looked around and dropped

skinned it out, cut it up for dog feed-makes them tough and mean it seems.

first time ever shooting from a prone position-perhaps the culprit in the low shot-ashamed? naw, lessoned learned, never to old to teach an old dog a new thing. will have to shoot more in the prone position.
