Universal Decapping Die?

Hi,
I am in the market for Universal Decapping Die. I will be using it on 30-30 base wildcats but will also be using for .172, .204. .223. What brand do you use? Pros & Cons. What brand would you recommend? I lean toward Redding but am flexible.

Lee.
Or if you load for .500 Nitro, that will work. But really, any die that is bigger than your 30-30 will work fine as long as the expander button is smaller, or you can grind it down.

I've been using Lee's for many years, pretty hard to beat, IMO.

Unfortunately the LEE is not long enough for 3 1/4" cartridges.

LEE is headed this way. Two extra decapping stems to be turned to .170

If you have a set of reloading dies, why make more work for yourself..I have yet to understand the need for a decaping die, at least on hunting rifles.?? However I do see a lot of extra work done by reloaders, mostly new reloaders and those that tend to seek over the top perfection on whatever they do, and thats fine if it blows your skit up. I have thought I would make a list of those items that serve little or no purpose, but surly that would cause a small revolution.

I use a decapping die for really dirty cases to avoid scratching my sizing die or for blackpowder cases before washing. Decap clean in the tumbler or decap wash and tumble. Otherwise I don't use a decapping die.

I've never seen the point. My first reloading step is to clean the brass. Then I check every piece for defects.

Only then do I worry about dies, and since all my sizing dies (FL and NK) are properly adjusted and locked in place, I simply kill the proverbial 2 birds with one stone.

I use a universal decapping die for first time reloading range pickups. Then I clean up the primer pockets, clean the brass, and trim as needed before running them through the progressive unit.
