JaywalkerOr you can buy a rectangular dining room table from a used furniture store for $50. That's what I did. And it has a drawer...

shootawayI just built my second reloading bench and it really is not a bench.I had no choice but to scrap the first one I had built. Then I set about for a really solid thing that I asked my brother who has a welding hobby to help make.My brother watches too much of these chopper/monster garage programs and has his own welder. In the end I settled for something simple.I took a 2 1/2 foot steel angle(3/8 inch thick) and bolted it to a concrete foundation wall with 2 one inch thick and six inch long anchors.I've got a rock chucker bolted on there and an arbor press laying on,also a wilson trimmer clamped on.Then I do all my reloading standing up.Sitting down just breaks my back. There is nothing more solid than this. You can go at this with a sledge hammer, chain it to a truck and pull and you won't break it.Very low cost too.

What a bunch of nonsense follow-ups to my original post.
If that bench is anything like your stinking attitude, it ain't worth a crap!

45ottoDo you have any imagination at all? Take the reloading bench manufacturers plan and cut the legs down to your desired height. Forget the back panel and build shelves. Or perhaps you could just start with a couple of 4x4s and a wall. Use 2x6s for the rim and what ever you can get for the top. I used 3/4" plate aluminum for my top. The 1st top was 2x6 lumber. Perhaps you need someone to hold your hand and do it for you. I think you should call a professional carpenter and pay his hourly fee.

sonofagunTough, but I'm tired of all the badly designed ideas for benches I see - so I spend years developing something and when I offer it, this is the response I get.
Be happy with your second rate stuff then.

browningguyWell it would help the ad if there was a picture of the finished article, I reload and do some woodworking so might be a customer.
I certainly would not order plans without seeing what the item looked like though.

new_guyi can tell from his tone, that i certainly wouldn't want to deal with sonofagun on a return.
So i think i'll save myself from the exposure and keep my 7.99. Good luck

sonofagunYeah, that's why I have such excellent feedback

NONSENSE follow-ups huh

No sorry buddy the NONSENSE is your stinkin attitude.
I'm not going to try and answer for the other posters, but i'll never buy your NONSENSE bench with you NONSENSE attitude.
You mean it actually took you years to design that NONSENSE.
As far as i'm concerned you can take you NONSENSE bench and shove it up your NONSENSE ass.
Merry Christmas.

Bill, Even if you were off topic, I appreciate the plans. I have been looking for an inexpensive portable shooting bench. This looks like it has potential, with little refinement. Thanks Steve for sharing your plans.

Bill McWell, I'll be be a "sonofagun"

Apparently when I saw "bench" my mind said "shooting bench"
I always think of my place to reload as a "reloading table"

lawndartThat's not a bench mate; this is a bench:
4x4s. 2x6s, 2x4s, multiple layers of 3/4" particle board with a formica surface and a piece of 4x6" beam across the top. Who needs a kitchen table anyway?

I think he got mad and removed the link.
I think it would be kind of hard to sell any with the link gone huh?

Bill McHere is my reloading table. Not as pretty but very durable.
Many years ago, I was a printer (hot type days) and one of my jobs was "stone man" which really was layout and imposition.
The top came from this printing business when they went to cold type and I went to computerized typesetting.
Very sturdy.

schmidieHello Gentlemen & "sonofagun"
I am fairly new here as you can see, but I notice the number of post's people have made and they just do not learn do they?? Do not mess with the AR guy's and gal's.
On the topic I am planning to put wheels on my Table I am building..... so when my wife chases me out of the kitchen I will simply move into the lounge. HE HE

Cheers Schmidie.

new_guyFor less than $100.00, you can pick one of these up at home depot or similar store.
Mine has worked quite well. The casters are removable, and it has lockable storage cabinets.
Steel construction with laminated top.

Quarter RoundI got my plans from Steve's site and a friend modified and built them to fit me and the available space. Mine is a stand up or stool bench and very happy with it.
The sit down bench that Andre has sure looks great, but guys you gotta love the clasic lines of Bill's and lawndarts.

Sonofagun should have left his link up. He might have drummed up some business while he was picking his panties out of his crack.

lawndartA really nice bench if you don't have the time/tools/inclination to build your own is the Kennedy brand bench. I think I have seen them in the Cabelas catalogue. Sportsmans' Warehouse also sells them. I have one in the back reloading room (as opposed to the kitchen and bedroom reloading rooms). Very solid; lots of drawers.
