The girls behind the counter at the local Bi Mart store, which is a great place for buying primers locally, don't pay attention the way the guys do that work there.

Our local shop has a couple of gals who work there, at the gun counter, with guys as dept heads. However at times everyone is on break but the girls.

This is how I ended up with a box of 10 Winchester small pistol primers, when the outer box said Small Rifle primers.
My fault for not checking them out closer.

Anyway I loaded up a 100 rounds of 223 ammo, using blue Dot powder, and low and behold, I found that the groups tightened up significantly. They were more than enough for minute of prairie dog, but are even better now.

This surprised me, so I tried it with several loads of powder that took 25 to 28 grains in the 223 case instead of just 12 to 14 like I do with Blue Dot.

I ended up with the same results?

Anyone else stumbled upon the same observation?

YOU LUCKED OUT.....MAYBE....I used Rem 6 1/2 small rifle primers and had them blow out and cut my bolt face and give me a blast of felt blow by in a 223 full load but NOT max.......Rem says the 6 1/2 small rifle primer is for 30 carbine and 22 Hornet and low pressure similar rounds....I might use them in a pistol with mag charges BUT in a 222 or similar I WOULDN"T use those primers in a normal load....you can get good results-sometimes- in a Hornet sized case with pistol primers; if you are going to shoot them I'D WEAR SAFETY GLASSES FOR SURE!!!!!It's not worth the risk ? imo...good luck and good safe shooting!!
