m_walkerhow many grain bullet for 1:9.25 twist in 7mm - 08 most accurate
starting to buy some supplies and don't want to waste any money on bullets that won't be accurate. I am shooting a Tikka T3 lite in 7mm-08 1:9.25 twist I am guessing 140 gr is probably the ideal weight bullet for this rifle.
You guys think the 150's or 160's are too heavy for this rifle to get sub MOA?

lawndart140, 140 and 140 are the three best weights.

LWDBut try different weights if those don't work and depending on your needs. You're twist rate should stabilize up to 175 grain bullets.

Bob in TXThe 140's, 150's, and 160's will all shoot well in your rifle. You are correct, the 140 gr. is ideal for most applications.

I also use a 139 gr. but it rounds up to 140 gr.

NlifeThe 120gr B-Tip and around 44-45gr of R-15 is a fantastic load. I put 12 shots under an inch with it in my Husky 7mm-08 with a 9.25 twist. Great for deer as well. Some people use it on larger game, but I think that would have to be under some pretty good circumstances.

SR4759The best bullet should be investigated by length.
A real skinny pointed 140 monometal or solid base bullet might not shoot as well as a 140 cup & core bullet that is equally pointed but is shorter. To your disappointment sometimes a RN 154 or RN 175 may shoot smaller groups than a pointy match bullet.

Lamara twist that fast is designed for the heavier bullet weights i would try the 154 gr hornady's first.
the hornady 139's really shine in my 1-10.
my wifes 1-91/2 really likes the 145 plus weights.

Ol` Joe1/9" pretty much a normal twist for the 7mm cartridges, and most manufactures use it that I aware of. I`ve shot 120 - 160 gr bullets from my 708(s) with 1/9" twists and have seen no signs of trouble. I wouldn`t worry about wgt so much as which wgt and style the rifle preferes the most.
