Does any body else find that their hornets get more accurate loads toward the hotter end of the loads.I've been loading for my ruger 77/22hornet(heavybarrel laminate model)and trying to get an accurate load and finding that the hottest loads yet are also the most accurate.I am loading 11.5 gns of AR2205 (similar to imr4227)with winSR primers and starting to get really good accuracy (.8"@100)

What projectile are you using?
I load my Hornet with 11.8gn W296 and 40gn BT's for 2986fps.
This load groups .8-9 moa in my ZK465 Brno.

I am using 46 gn winchesters.Have tried 45gn speers,tiapans,40gn horn. vmax,40 sierras , 40 gn win(.22 mag type).Is 296 a little slower than 2205? My loads are lightly compressed.

296 is a Winchester ball powder that seems to be perfect for the 22H/22KH. My 'K' hornet pushes the 40gn to 3160fps with 12.3gn 296.
Take care loading hornets and weigh every charge (I use electronic scales). If you get it wrong, 0.2gn can make a big difference to the pressures in this little case.

I considered doing the "K" thing to my hornet but I'm not sure if its worth it.The main thing for me is the cost of dies.I was quoted $180 for a set of dies and $125 to do the chamber.I already have 3 sets of dies and a neck sizer for the hornet.
I usually dont weigh every charge, I usually set my thrower at the charge, check it 3 or 4 times for thrown weight, and check it every 10 or so.I rarely see it change when I check it though.I do use the same timing and action on the powder thrower though,from charge to charge, and keep the hopper topped up to around the same level.
Have you tried the Tiapan bullets with yours yet?

Seems like I heard one of you Aussies talking about an equivalent of Hodgdon Lil'Gun being made down under. I'm loading 13.5 gr in Rem brass with a 40 gr V-Max that gets less than MOA out of a NEF Handi rifle with 20" barrel. I believe the velocity was around 2750 fps at 15'.

Not sure about lil gun but I think IMR4227 is the same(or close enough) to our AR2205.I dont know of hodgsons equivalant.

No, My hornet does like the softer loads with jacketed bullets, but prefers somewhat hotter loads with HN hi-speed bullets, go figure (these are coated lead bullets). But max definitely doesn't work best in my Martini
