Who feeds there 340Wby these = 200gn Wby factory ammo?
The projectiles used by Weatherby are Hornady Spire points, which are renowned for there performance/stopping power.

Terry BlauwkampI've shot alot of game with the 200 gr Hornady in my 338 Mag, and I found that they are NOT for Moose. They are of light construction, so be careful.

Kyler HamannI had a 225gr. Hornady in my .340 fail to penetrate a wounded pig I was trying to finish off for a client. It was a quartering away shot at about 80 yards. The bullet entered just in front of the ham angling forward. The bullet didn't even make it to the lungs. It wasn't a large pig so just 18" of pentration would have taken out the vitals.
Ironically I had a 180gr. Hornady out of a .300 Win. Mag. fail exactly the same way on a similar sized pig on the exact same hill.
On a large boar I was finishing off I had a 400gr. Hornady out of a .416 Rem. fail to exit at only 10 yards. It didn't expand well either... is just flat failed.
I've used Hornady's since I was a kid and have probably taken over 60 animals with them but I'm losing faith quickly. I'm still carrying the 300gr. in my .375 H&H for my guiding but in general I'm steering away from Hornady's.
In fact I have several boxes of the 200gr. Hornady's waiting to be loaded in the .340 and just this morning I was thinking I should just sell them so I'm not dissappointed (or worse yet lose an animal).

340WbyInteresting.
I've seen Winchester factory 200gn Powerpoints(338WM),which are virtually the same sort of projectiles perform great on big pigs & Australia's largest deer(Sambar).
Thought Hornady's spire point were a bit more of a good thing.

Kyler Hamann340Wby,
I'm not saying they won't work, I'm just saying I've had too many failures in a short period of time. There are too many good bullets out there for me to risk losing an animal from trying to save a couple cents on each shot.
My .340 groups X bullets more accurately anyway.
