I use IMR4895 surplus for every rifle caliber.

My 2 most accurate rifles are .223.

They are much better with handloads than with factory.

To confuse the subject even further, WC846(ball type)is another good one.

First off ditto what Chainsaw said!
Second were I forced into using just one powder for all my military cartridges WC-846 would be the choice, no questions asked! I've found it to work well in .223 with bullets from 55 to 70 grains, .308 and 30-06 with bullets from 110 grain to 180 grain.

This in NOT to say that its the best powder for any or all of the above. However the overall performance is superior to any other single powder I've tried. Further when you factor in cost, well, your going to look long and hard to find a better all around powder.

Just a side note, the batch I've been using loads the same as the data published for BL-C2.

I too have used AA2230-C and find it to do the job quite nicely in .223 as well as for bullets 150 grain and lighter in .308.

If everyone thought like me, I'd be a damn fool to think any differently!

WC 844 is the bulk equivalent of H335 and WC 846 is the bulk equivalent of BLC-2 and WW 748. The individual lots of powder WILL vary from one another, but if you have good luck with one, you'll likely do fine with it's bulk equivalent, although you may need to adjust your load by a grain or so.

844 generally has the edge in .223, with 846 doing a bit better in .308, although either powder will work nicely with either cartridge.

P.S. There are no flies on 4895 for use in either cartridge.
