primer removal ?
very new at reloading. What would be the best way to remove the primers from fired military cases. Just looking for any input before I start and hope to prevent any costly mistakes.

Just use your press and regular dies - no problem unless they're Berdan primed. The primer pockets will likely need to be reamed before you can seat new primers.

Millitary cases is usually fitted with Berdan Primers. You need to build yourself a special decapping device. There are examples on youtube regarding this. RCBS also makes a tool to decap Berdan Primers. The next problem would be to get the Berdan Primers.

The US military has never used Berdan primers. They are almost universal in the rest of the world's military. Your best bet is to find and use Boxer primed brass. It's not impossible to do, but I don't know anybody that even thinks about reloading Berdan primed brass.

What calibre are you referring to? That'd help us figure out if it is berden primed or not. If it's US milsup, it is not berden primed.
basically, you punch the primer out and several companies make little gizzies that you use to ream out the military crimp.

Back when you could buy 30/06 by the bucket
we used a sharp penknife and rolled the case
across the table. It only takes a little to
remove the lip.
