Mike BaileyCordite replacement question
Hello all, I have bought a Greener Light Harpoon gun which is proofed for a higher powered .38 special blank with 14.5 gr of No.5 cordite. Can anyone out there suggest a modern powder which could be substituted to reload some more blanks ? many thanks in advance, Mike Bailey

eagle27Although I can find no reference to No. 5 cordite I suspect it was a cordite used for loading pistol cartridges.
Early factory loads for a .455 Webley revolver I once had used cordite which apparently was in a flake form rather than the stick form used in rifle cartridges and cordite was a fast burner.
In reloading for the Webley cartridge I used Unique powder which gave the same ballistics as factory loads.
Unique is a good powder for small arms and also a go to powder for reduced loads with cast bullets in larger cartridges. This powder would be a good starter for your .38 special blanks I think.
