dsmit50one more blue dot question
OK. We all know blue dot will destroy any rifle. We also know Alliant put out the notice about blue dot and 41mag-357mag. So...does anyone still use blue dot at all for anything? Or are you scared of this powder all together?

homebrewerIt's the "Powder of Death." It is so dangerous, that your grandson living with your daughter and her husband seven states away might suffer bodily injury if you load .01 grains too much. It has such a high potential to explode, it has been banned for military use by international treaty. Rounds fired with it on Earth have caused global warming on Saturn. People are starving in Biafra because it's used here. It is an
evil powder-- really. Everything about it is dark, sinister, dangerous. Only those with a death wish use it. You'd be better off loading your rounds with Semtex...

Hot CoreI use it in a 45ACP Load and it is excellent.
Two questions:
1) What notice from Alliant?
2) HC, what's your .45 load?
A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work.

Hot CoreHey Sam, This came from Ken Waters back when he wrote for Reloader. It is the MAX Load he gave for using this Powder and Bullet:
185gr Lead, 10.0gr Blue Dot and Standard Primers.
Just spotted Craigster's post and it dawned on me that I've been shooting a good many full power Blue Dot Loads in my 357Mag too. It is not as robust as H110 or WW-296, but it gets the Bullet out of the barrel. I got the load from one of the Manuals.

Hey Vapo, Should work well in the 12ga. I just don't shoot the old scatter gun(that could apply to more than shotguns I suppose

) enough any more to justify buying all the components.

seafire/B17GHey, I blow up a rifle with it once a week...
but besides that, I use it in a 357 Mag, a 45 Long Colt and a 45 ACP...
JUST LIKE HOT CORE???

454PBI've been using it for many years with no problems, and will continue to do so. I've used it in everything from 9mm to 45/70.
I kinda have to, I have several 5 pound containers.

homebrewerI'm warning you folks: Blue Dot is Death. It's more powerful than a nuclear weapon. 1.2 grains of BD has more destructive energy simmering in it than all the nuclear missiles in all our Trident submarines prowling the worlds' oceans. A hundredth of a grain too much and you'll wipe out your whole block if it should spontaneously explode-- and it does. It just does. It will go of all by itself, it's that bad a powder. It has a mind of its own. It's Evil in a Jug...

I thought they banned the use of it in the International Arms Treaty as it is too powerful to use and it might fall into public hands.
