hillbillybearHELP WITH .300 RUM LOADS
Hi Folks,
I went to the range today to continue testing my .300RUM Model 70 Winchester. The scope problems were solved by the change to Weaver Style mounts and a Leupold scope.
However, this rifle still has "issues." Today's groups averaged between .95 and 1.5 inches but it wants to throw at least 1 shot out in 3 shot groups and usually 2 shots in 5 shot groups.
I have uplinked some scans of the groups
web page Could it be a bedding/floating issue still?
Thanks for the input,
HBB

sakofanYou may file this in the "for what its worth file"
But, the only bullet my Rem. 300UM did NOT like, was the Nosler BT. I used 93gr. RL 25 and had wonderful groups with all the rest..SMK's, SST's, Scirocco', ect.
Are you checking your rounds for bullet run out??..RL 25 was the key for me, when using 180gr. bullets
Have you tried 175gr. or better SMK's??
They will fire well in most rifles, and I use them for finding out the accuracy of a rifle..sakofan..

stubblejumperActually 180gr ballistic tips with r-25 powder group by far the best in my 300ultramags.Best groups are with 95gr with one rifle and 96gr with the other.
