PMC brass for 6.5 x 55 ?
I am considering buying some PMC brass for my 6.5 and was wondering if anyone here has used it and what its like for consistency etc. Its very well priced but I thought it may be an idea to see what other reloaders found it like before buying. Any comments, experiences appreciated!

I didn't particularly care for the 20 or so cases I aquired from shooting their loaded ammo. The case heads were smaller than spec and you could definitely tell after shooting them a couple of times. I found the same to be true of Remington brass in this caliber. I even had a few case head seperations with the Rem. brass with mild loadings. I broke down and bought some Lapua cases and have lost only one due to insufficient case lube in a full length sizer. The others seem to be lasting quite well after muptiple loadings.

I just bought some for my .223. I haven't shot with it yet, but it seemed very consistent during preparation (uniform length, nice primer pockets that required very little uniforming, and pretty decent flash holes). I don't usually weigh cases, so I can't help there.

I have tried some in 7 x 57 and I liked them a lot. Very good consistency. Have not found any more for a decent price, other wise I would buy some more.

Cheers and Good shooting

I did buy 500 rounds of once fired 45 acp brass from a gun show once and I'm still trying wear the stuff out. But comparing apples to apples, I love the Lapua cases. End of story.

My limited experience with the 6.5 Swede brass wasn't good. A box of target ammo(fmj) and a box of SP ammo was fired and reloaded the first time, shot and reloaded once again. First shot from the 2nd reloading batch had a case seperation. I pulled apart the remainder of the rounds and found incipient case/head separtion in most of the brass. The second firing showing signs of separtion isn't good. Foolish me for not checking the inside of the brass with a bent paper clip sooner(note to myself, check every round every time). I should have paid better attention to the brass. Perhaps that particular brass lot was sub standard and/or my reloading technique was not up to par which could have contributed to early case failures. To date my 200 Hansen/Privi/nny brass cases have gone through 8 reloading cycles. I've a few other odd lots of brass which have gone through more than three cycles but less than eight cycles of reloading. As yet, only my PMC brass is retired. Best-o-Luck

PMC with any reasonable load will give case head separations after 1 or 2 reloads. The heads from PMC are 0.006" smaller than spec.
I presume you are shooting in a Swede; get Norma or Lapua cases. Some time ago cases were made by C.A. which I think were Canadian. These were also of good quality and of the correct head size.

I personally try to stay away from PMC Brass.
Theirs and Federal Brass are really soft as compared to Winchester and Remington.
Winchester has bagged brass for sale so if it were me I would just go that route.
I have it in stock all the time.

I don't hear much mentioned about PMC brass positively or negatively. I use Lapua brass in my 6.5x55 and find it's very good. The dimensions are quite uniform as is the weight from one case to another. It's a bit pricey but no where near as steep as Norma. All the Lapua products are excellent for this caliber, cases, Lapua Scenar bullets and the affiliated VihtaVouri powders. Sinclair (www.sinclairintl.com) carriers all the components. Best wishes.

Many thanks everyone -just the sort of feedback I was looking for and I will therefore give the PMC stuff the miss.

Sounds like Lapua is the way to go - failing that, Winchester, Norma or Remington.

Much appreciated!
