Urgent/sierra 85gr hpbt
The gun is a NEF Handi-rifle in .243win., with winchester brass. I'm using sierra 85gr HPBT gameking. What is the OAL length your using. The factory ammo is 2.650oal., but when I reload these to that there in the lands.

Thanks.

You must have a very unique chamber... I worked with an H&R Ultra Varmint .243 earlier this year, and used 2.700" as my OAL with this same bullet and had no problems touching the lands.

What method did you use to confirm that you're in fact touching the lands?

OAL is dependent on where the ogive of the bullet contacts the start of the rifling....since you are using a single shot, best to start approx .010 inches off the rifling and see how your accuracy is.

Assuming you know how to measure the distance from the ogive to the rifling.

The bullets have obviese land marks on them. I am giong to check the max oal in MY gun.

I would begin with the OAL listed in the reloading manual - if that is too long then be sure to reduce the load as you seat the bullet deeper because the case capacity shrinks as you seat the bullet deeper.
