Tell me about the Speer 120gr
Hey guys

I was at the range today testing some loads with 4831 and 6.5 Speer 120gr flat base bullets. Started at 47.5gr and worked my way up to 49.5.
My tightest group was with the 47.5 load in my Steyr Prohunter. This older Speer bullet plenty good for Mule deer?
I shot some groups with the TSX bullets and Hybrid 100 powder and they were all over the place. FS

Yes, it's plenty good for Mule Deer. It should kill them very nicely.

Haven't used the 120gr 6.5, but the 257 one's in my 25-06 were outstanding at 3100+ on whitetails and mule deer.

120GR Speers and 48gr of R19 worked well in my 6.5x55 on Sika and Fallow deer.Travelled at 2780fps.

Those load sound awfully light for a .264 magnum; and equally excessive for a 6.5 Grendal. Or perhaps I missed the cartridge you were loading the 120 grain Speer 6.5's in?

At any rate, I use to use the Speer 6.5 120's for deer and they worked just fine.

Texas Whitetail just hate that load..... I on the other hand really like the 120 in 6.5x55

Several things I like about the Speer 120 is 1) they are incredibly inexpensive for my college age daughter to practice with in her Rem 700 CDL SF Limited 260 Rem and 2) their fairly accurate with "thrown" charges of Varget.
