JohnnyBRem. No. 57 Primers
Recently I won 700 Remington No. 57 shot shell primers at my gun club. I guess these primers are 20 years old and no load date available. They are too small to go into new shot shell hulls. They are 0.226" dia. and Fed 209A are 0.242". Can these primers be used/loaded or are they junk?

johnchThey used to be a demand for them form reloaders that had the old Rem hulls.
Most juncked the hulls because of lack of primers or pushed in 209 size primers( thats what I did).
My gusess is they are junk.
15 years ago you could have just about named your price.

Ol` JoeI haven`t loaded shot shell for years but as I remember the #57 was a propriatory primer that was only called for in Remington hulls. I don`t know if any hull is presently made that they will fit.
You might offer them as a prize at your clubs next raffle

JohnnyB,
Every so often someone inherits some old Remington hulls and wants the small size. Then and only then are the small size valuable. I still have about a thousand 57* mysef even after my batch of old 28ga hulls wore out.....
