COL'S
Hoping someone can help me out. I am loading the hornady SST's in 243 and 308. The 243 is using the 95 grain and the 308 I am using the 165grain. I can not find info on the col of these bullets. anyone know what to use or where to find these col's. also if anyone has a good load using H4895 powder I would like to here it.
Thanks in advance

For cartridges the size of the 243 & 308 the COAL isn't all that critical. You only have to consider the following factors:

1. The cartridge has to be short enough to feed through the magazine unless you shooting a single shot and then that obviously doesn't matter.

2. The bullet should be seated at least 1 caliber length in the case.

3. The bullet should not engage the lands but can and in most cases should be close if possible.

In small cartridges like handgun cases, a short COAL means less room in the case and higher pressure so COAL does matter in those.

SPECIAL NOTE ON CARTRIDGE OVERALL LENGTH “COL”
It is important to note that the SAAMI “COL” values are for the firearms and ammunition manufacturers industry and must
be seen as a guideline only.
The individual reloader is free to adjust this dimension to suit their particular firearm-component-weapon combination.
This parameter is determined by various dimensions such as 1) magazine length (space), 2) freebore-lead dimensions of
the barrel, 3) ogive or profile of the projectile and 4) position of cannelure or crimp groove.
