Go with the Dillon 550. I have had both the square deal & the 550. The only thing I did not like about the square deal were the dies. The 550 uses standard dies. You won't be sorry going with the 550.

My SDB has auto advance, the RL550 does not. I load 32 mag, 38spcl, 380 auto, 44 mag, 45 colt, 45 acp on it. The only pistol cartridge I use the RL550 for is the bottle-necked 357SIG...SDB can only do straight-walled cases or slightly tapered like 44-40. I have put thousands upon thousands of rounds through this machine without a single hiccup. Dillon's proprietary carbide dies work just as well with cast bullets as jacketed, brass cases or nickel plated. Crimping is done with a separate die.

If 300 to 500 rounds per hour isn't fast enough for you, then spend the $$$ for a RL550 with casefeeder option.

I've owned them all at one time or another . What do I now use . DILLON ! 550 650 plus . What ever your needs are Dillon covers them . Many reloaders prefer certain die manufactures . I've never been let down by RCBS or Redding or even Dillon's dies . Just my $ 0.0025 worth of input .

An expensive lesson taught me that Dillon is the only progressive one should consider buying.
If you buy a square deal I doubt it would be long before you will wish you'd bought a 550..............................DJ

The Dillon is the way to go!

Have used the SDB and own a 550 and a 1050. The 550 is a GREAT place to start is you are EVER going to do anything larger than a pistol cartridge. Go to the 650 if you want fast and/or rifle.

Wanna save a buck? Get the Dillon. Want the best progressive out there, get a Dillon. Want to be happy next year with your progressive press? Get a Dillon.

Lee progressives are pure junk If you buy one like I did you will be a cussing as you throw the piece of crap in pieces back in the box for a return.The Dillon 550B is a jem and Dillon backs it up too.Spend the money you will not be disapointed. I might add though that Lee makes a good cheap shotshell reloader which ive used quite a lot .

So none of you guys like the Hornady Lock-N-Load Progressive? I've been muddling on through with it for a few years now. I really like the quick change aspect of Lock-N-Load bushings. It costs less than the XL 650.
