223 loads for AR
Anyone have any good loads for ar15. I am shooting Remington AR with 18in barrel.

Both the Hornady and Nosler manuals list service rifle 223 Rem. loads. Of the choices listed, I think RL-15 and Varget are the way to go.

As for bullets, go with Sierra, Berger or Nosler match bullets for target shooting.

Sierra's manual also has a section devoted to loads for gas operated semi autos in .223 rem./5.56x45. Additionally, they have a section worth reading, that explains some of the do and dont's of loading for service rifles and their clones.

If you're serious about loading ARs for match, Sierras and their manual are a must.

BLC-2 25.5 Grains with 55 grain bullets .

IMR or H 4895 works well also as does H-335

I prefer ball powders in the .223; no powder bridging and throws well in progressive press measures.

25.5 gr. H335 behind 55 gr. Nos. Bal Tip shoots great in my BM Predator. R15 should have the same twist. This is a pretty hot load so start low & work up!

Have heard Ball C works equally well but didn't feel the need to try after the results obtained w/H335:

Try 55gr Ballistic Tips with 26gr of Varget. Works great in mine.
