saeed, did you say you had 300 rum brass
does that mean we are getting a new page in the reloading section?

Eric,

Yes sir. I have some 300 and some 338 Ultra brass.

I also got about 3000 404 from Norma, and we are in the process of sorting these out, and loading some ammo for our upcoming hunting trip.

As soon as I done with these little chores, I will work on the Ultras. I have factory made Remington 700 chambered for these rounds. I might have to do some bedding on them first though.

Hi Saeed.
When you are to test the Ultra Mag's, can you please see if you can try some NORMA and VIHTAVUORI -powders to????
That will help me a lot when i got my Winchester back from the gunsmith, rebarreled to 338 RUM.

Arild,

I will be glad to try the VV powders, as I have plentry of them here. But I have no Norma powders at all.

I assume some of the Alliant - like Reloader 22 is the same as the Norma MRP.

SAEED- will you eventually duplicate/experiment with your .270 Dakota with the Ultra mag brass making a .270 UltraMag??

I belive the Reloader is the same as the Norma -powder to.
I look forward to see your velocities in the 338 RUM.

ROTR,

I have two 270 wildcats. One is 2.490" and one is 2.800, both based on the 404 case.

I found the shorter one seem to be more consistent velocity wise.

We did manage to get 3900 fps with a 130 grain bullet, but the pressure was pretty high. We had to use a hammer to open the bolt!?

D'OH....he,he that sounds like a bit much! I was looking through the reloading pages at the .270 Dakota notes and must say they are pretty impressive!

I am considering what to do with a VZ-24 action and since I bought a .338WM the .35 Whelen doesn't seem as urgent of a desire so I was considering a .300 WinMag necked down to .277 any opinions of that round.

Thanks,
Mike

Eric,

We have several 300 Remington Ultras here. I picked a Sendero SF to develop our loads in.

I have installed a Leupold 4.5-14 scope on it, and hope to start load development in the next day or two.
