7 MAG
7 MAg
I have a quick question. I am loading some 7 mag rounds and want to run this pass you. When I check the over all lenght I get 3.343 . I was thinking of loading with 58 grs. of IMR4831 with a 154gr sp hornady on top at 3.330. If I did my math right this should put me at .013 off the lands. The book calls for it to be 3.290 but the gun will cycle at the 3.330. Do most of you think this would be a good starting point. Thanks

That sounds like a good starting point. Just make sure that it does not contact the lands and work your load up.

I almost always load longer than the length given by the manuals.

That would be a good starting length and load. You should be able to build up towards 65 grns and pick up the velocity a bit, the 58 grn loads are probably going to be pretty slow.

Good Luck

If you've got a bolt rifle of modern manufacture, I think you ought to start somewhere in the low 60's. You won't be hot rodding your rifle but you will be saving some time and money and barrel life.
