EterryReduced loads for my 500NE. Even cast bullets
I'm looking hard at a 570gr gas check mold for my 500NE. Does anyone have reduced loads for it? I don't recall where but I saw recently someone listed a pistol powder for gallery loads with the 500NE.
Let's see what you're working with.
TIA

SaeedWe use pistol powder for all reduced loads.
Never tried this cartridge, but for a 577 T.Rex I use 45 grains of UNIQUE.
You need to add some KAPOK on top of the powder.

dpcdLook for some data for the 50 Sharps 3.25 cartridge. Lots of data out there, from pistol powder to black powder. Those will not regulate though.
Now, here is what I do with my 500 since I will never get to go to get a Cape buffalo (my goal since age 8). I use Hawk 450 grain bullets, a foam backer case filler, and some 5744, the amount of which I will look at if you want.
This load shoots into two inches at 50; one of those regulatory nodes thing that works.

K EvansIf you can find some Trail Boss it is very easy to find starting load. I use it for reduced cast bullet loads in .470NE and .505 Gibbs.

JiriToday the best powder for really reduced loads is Reload Swiss RS14.
For something moderate, AA 5744 is hard to beat.
Can do some QL calculations for you, if you want.

w5qztI just reloaded reduced loads for both the 505 Gibbs and 500 NE using 5744. My lead/ gas check bullets come from the Bull Shop, and they have work well.
I am out of town until Friday- I will post my load data and the weight of the 500s
Regards,
Jack

sambarman338To get reduced loads to regulate, the usual formula is to use the same weight of the same powder as for the standard, heavy bullet, but with a projectile three-quarters of the mass.
I guess a 450-grain bullet would be close enough.

SaeedYou can use any pistol or shotgun powders for reduced loads!
