I´m new too to the 7-08mm...
...so I´d like some positive inputs about cases/powders/bullets/primers combinations in order to be used for benchrest and offhand animal metal silouettes competition (silouette targets are those intended to shoot at it at large distances (100, 200, 375 and 500 mts.)

Thanks in advance

Hi errege. Welcome to the forum. I find it difficult to beat the performance obtained with the 162gr Hornady A-max over a max charge of IMR4350 seated out to touch the lands. In my rifle this is an over all length of 2.975". You will get good performance with most good 7mm bullets but the A-max is my favorite. For speed I drop back to the 120gr.Nosler Ballistic tip. I think you will enjoy your 7mm/08. It is a fun caliber to shoot.

Thanks for all your experienced inputs, they will help me good, since this is my very first 7-08mm.

I´m surely this will be a perfect combo, but, to my (hunting) regret my rifle it´s a match grade Winchester Mod. 70 with a very heavy barrel to be carried on the hunting fields.

Thanks again.

The 7-08 was originally developed for steel shooting but was too much of a good thing for hunting to keep under wraps.
One would think that a 150 or 160 would be be best for your 600 meter Ram, I don't know but a 140gr NP in front of a load of H4895 will kill and WT or mulie very dead.

the 7MM-08 is a great round. my sister has had one for about 18 years. i have had one for about 8.. i like the 140 sierra BTSP. and 44.0 grs os RL-15. shot over chroney. at 2940 FPS. that is running right alone side with the .270 win. with the 140s. i have dropped white tail past 300+ yards.. varget & 4064 are also good powders for this round

For speed and accuracy with 160gr bullets give Ramshot Hunter a try.

.308 Lapua case (once through a 7-08 die)
130grn Sierra MK
Fed 210std or match primer
42grn VV N140

This give me 2800f/ps from a 24" 1-10 5R border barrel (heavy varmint fluted) S5 mod end can. lt shoots into the .1's if l do my bit

Or....... TeeHee!!!

Just pull the 130smk and mush a 120V-Max back in and it gives a nice 2960f/ps and chops critters to bits out to silly ranges
