BECoole270 Win & 110gr Hornady
What is a good load for the 270 Winchester using the 110gr Hornady HP?

vapodogyears ago I shot quite a few 110s in the .270 and then moved to the 90 Grain Sierra....in the end I decided the .270 is not a vrarmint rifle and since have loaded 130 grainers almost exclusively.
With the 110 HPs I used H-414 and as I recall about 55 grains...consult Hodgdon for the actual data!

BECooleThanks. I got a free box of them and thought they might be good for shooting in my club's sporter rifle matches.
Did they shoot well?

I shot them in a Rem 760.....everything shot well in that gun but nothing ever shot like my bolt guns.....I wanted varmint accuracy and got deer accuracy.....I can only tell you that a friend with a Rem 700 shot them into less than MOA groups.....I never did that well!

BECooleWhat powder did you try Kelbro?

kelbroSR4759 and H4831SC. The SR4759 worked the best of the two.

BECooleHey Kelbro,
I threw 47gr of 4064 and it gave me 1MOA and under 3-shot groups.
ETA: Just measured them and the 3, 3-shot groups average 1 2/3" at 200 yds.
I'll take that.

merganser1Different brand but same weight bullet. My Marlin XL-7 shoots the 110 Sierra at .5 - .75 MOA 3 shots at 100yds with 48.5 gr. Varget; Hodgdons max is 48.7. Using 58.4 gr RL 19 the same bullet shot .8 to 1.0 MOA and impacted about 2 inches lower and virtually same POI as my 130 gr load using Sierra GK and 57.0 gr. of Win. WXR which is supposed to be real close or the same thing as RL-22. It shoots .5 to .75.
I'm not that good of a shot and legally blind. That marlin really shoots good out of the box. Got 4 deer and a nice javelina with it this year. Merg
