270 140 gr Silver Tip Boattail question
A while ago I bought some bullets on ebay labelled: 270 cal, 140 gr. Silvertip(c)boattail. I got them, miked them, weighed them and have used them for general use and have been generally satisfied for them at the price. What I can't do is ID them in any other source. Are these discontinued bullets or what? The price for 150, usually under $20 US is quite reasonable given that shipping is factored in and cross border shipping is only an additional $1. This, for example, beats Powerpoints at the local shop where I buy everything else.

Anyone have any info on these???

The latest batch (I bought them) is 7111151773 on ebay, however they are consistently available from this source.

If they have a metal silver tip, they are old Winchester bullets, if they have a plastic silver tip, they are the
Combined Technology (Nosler/Winchester concoction).

Thanks...They are true Silvertips, have that aluminum, or whatever, tip.

How old??? (They're in good shape.)

IIRC it was the late 80's or early 90's when Winchester brought out the "new" silvertips in boattail form. They were offered in at least the 270 and 280 (160gr) in their premium ammunition line. I have some of the 140 gr STBT's that I use in my 270WSM and they perform very well..
