Help with powder ID
Just started hand loading hand gun for the wife. Opened up new can of HS-6 and it appears to be two different powders. some grey and shiny and some dark, almost black. Same shape as near as I can tell. New powder to me. any thoughts?

I'm not experienced with that powder but it never hurts to pick up the phone and talk to someone at the factory about your concerns.

I am not sure of your description.

I just opened a can of HS 6.

They are all round discs.

If you shake them and look at them some do appear shiny, while others at an angle do seem black.

But I am assuming this not what you mean??

Yes that was exactly what I saw.Took it into better light and figured it out. thank you all. My first with handguns and a progressive press, so I'm a bit jumpy.

All canister, meaning powder sold for reloading, is blended to achieve the right burning rate. Making smokeless propellent is still a black art and no two batches are the same. So if you unsealed the can, don't fret that.
