airtoad6.5 mini-Dreadnought
I am going to begin reloading for this cartridge. Does anyone have any tips on fire forming, or load data that has worked for them

HHI6818Just run the 220 Swift case into the 6.5MD sizer die. I used 44 grains of AA4350 and a Hornady 140 grain spire point seated into the rifling. 44 grains will fill up the case right to the case mouth. I'm shooting Sierra 120 grain spitzers at 2725 FPS from a 15 inch Encore barrel. Did you get a barrel from SSK?
Top 220 Swift
Middle 220 Swift necked up
Bottom 6.5 MD JDJ case with 60 degree shoulder

airtoadThanks HHI6818, the info is much appreciated. Yes my new barrel is an SSK, I've got a couple, one in 375HH, and a .50 Alaskan both outstanding!

HHI6818Your welcome. Are yours rifle or pistol barrels? About 10 years ago Dennis, that works for JD brought JD's 50 Alaskan to a silhouette match. NO he didn't shoot a match!!! After the match he shot the sighter pig at 100 M with it. He was shooting 647 API bullets.

You need to buy a 950 JDJ! The round is 5 inches long!

airtoadAll my ssk barrels are 15" and all are tack drivers, I've shot several hundred of he 647 ball, lots of fun. The most accurate in my 50ak are the 535gr hard cast and the Barnes 500 jeff at 1650fps, at 100-135yd just a nice tight clover leaf. The 375HH, fantastic, 2200fps with Barnes 300gr solids and TSX,with consistent sub MOA out to 175yd. How many reloads are you getting from fire formed brass, and have you used RX 19 in the Dread with any success.
