Whats the best 308 brass?
Just doing some sorting and my brass falls into these groups.
largest quantity to lowest.
#1 FC (from GM308M)
#2 Hornady
#3 Hornady Frontier
#4 LC
#5 RWS
#6 Winchester
which of these brass's is the highest quality?
the frontier seems noticibly heavier as does the RWS Dynamite Noble.

All Brass is Good !. Some is just better than others . RWS as well as Hornady is pretty well tops from your choices you have mentioned . I use Win , FC , to work loads , then RWS , Norma to finalize them along with Match primers .

I love my Lapua, can't prove it's the best... but sure works for me.

The answer depends upon what you are reloading for. If it is a semi auto then LC, Win. RWS.
If you are loading for a bolt rifle and aren't loading "hot" then any of the brass you have will work well.

Has nothing to do with brand. It is all about the consistency of the internal capacity of the brass. To have 100 cases with the same internal capacity would be a handloaders dream.

KSTEPHENS,

A poll was taken about brass quality on the "Reloading Forum" a few weeks ago. You might want to check out the voting and comments.

This is the absolute best answer to the question, as no one manufacturer is "best."

The second part is also true, regarding what application you are loading for. In some cases you would never be able to prove a difference!

Good shooting and chuck the Federal after you have reloaded it several times.

Well yes & no. It's not just about internal capacity, it's also about concentricity & durability. The matching case vol. does little for me as a handloader if I can only use the case once or twice. This is why I don't like Federal, very soft in .308 & 30-06 at least. The RWS I have used is top notch as is Lapua. Sorted WW is also great brass.
