Bullshooter243 reduced loads
does anyone have any experience with 243 reduced loads? something with low recoil for training an 11 yr. girl to shoot. rifle will be a model 7. TIA

Graham DawsonCheck the Speer reloading manual # 13 they have reduced loads for the 243. Start her out with 70 gr hp and then go up.

http://www.hodgdon.com/data/youth/index.phpI have also tried some of the Speer reduced loads for the .243 which call for IMR4198, but I haven't been too successful with them yet.
Additionally, Guns and Ammo magazine published an article which describes light loads for the .243, but they utilize Dacron stuffing to fill the cases and there has been some discussion posted on this forum in the past as to how wise of a practice this is or isn't:
