H-570 powder
I recently came into a few pounds of H-570 powder. I cant seem to find much about it other then its a slow burning powder. What are some different calibers that this would work in? Any information would help.

Thanks,

Greg

Let's see now. If I remember correctly.

The only cartridges I've heard of it being used in are very overbore case capacities. Like the 30-416IMP, 30-378Wby, 338-378Wby,7mm-378Wby, and the 50bmg and it's variants.

Not to say that it wouldn't work well in say a 7mmRUM or the like.

264 Win mag, 75 grains produced the highest velocity recordrd with a 140 gr bullet, speer #8 3313 fps from 26" bbl. Think of it as extruded H870.

The two powders are about as close in buring rate as any two non-identical powders can be.

My 25/06 load for H870 is 64.0 which is a case so full you have to tap repeatedly to get the powder below the mouth to seat a 117 spbt but she shoots into 3/8" at 100yds.

I " Borrowed " this from another posting site !.

He's been around near as long as I have and we both still have all our fingers and thumbs .

Just remember to watch for pressure signs . It is a 20mm powder , I still use h870 in my magnums

as I've got a barrel of it left !.

what caliber are you wanting to use it in ? it is a 20 mm powder closest to imr 7013. it will work best in large cases.us 869 starting data should work.i doubt you will have pressure problems with this powder unless you underload it.S.E.E. can happen.

Thanks for the responses. It looks like the powder should work in a few calibers I have. If I tried to use the H-870 data, should I start a few grains lower? Wasilla, if you get a chance could you send me the loads for 7mm Rem. mag and 338 Win. mag. Thanks again.

I wound up with a brand new - old can of this from a horse trade deal so went on a research mission to find every load I could find for the stuff. I think I am going to load a bunch of 270 Win for a wedding present for my nephew with it. They are both hunters and ammo /components is almost impossible to get up here now since the Obomanation kicked in. I double checked what I have written --it is straight out of the book.
