Fed 215M and WLRM in large capacity cases

416TanzanFed 215M and WLRM in large capacity cases
I've always used Fed 215M for large capacity cases like the 416Rigby and my 500AccRel Nyati.
However, the drought of Fed 215M primers just keeps going and going . . . I'm down to my last two hundred.
Last year I picked up some Rem9.5Magnum that worked well in medium large rounds like 338WM and 375Ruger. That saved using up a few hundred Fed215M.
So now I'm wondering, will the WLRMagnum primer work for 100grain powder loads? I'm thinking of buying 1000.

SaeedWLRM will work just fine.
We have not tried the Remingtons, so cannot say anything about them.

LuckyduckerI have used the WLRM primers in a load of 93 grains of H4831SC powder with really good results. The Winchester primers are hotter than most of them and I wouldn't hesitate to use them.

nopride2I light off 105 gr. of 4350 with CCI 250's. Read somewhere they tested hotter than the others.

KennethII've gone up to 180 grains of H4831 with the WLRM primers and they have never given me any issues

Thanks.
I've just ordered a box (1000) of WLRM.
They scored very well (best) on consistency/standard-deviation of a brisance test that circulates on the web.

ZekeShikarI've read a few primer brisance reports and 215's are supposedly the "hottest" with WLRM's not too far behind. Rem 9 1/2M are the least hot.
With that said, my 9 1/2M primers work just fine with 101 grains of Retumbo even in very cold temps.
The WLRM primers will work great in any approved application.
I'm OCD so I don't mix and match within the same load but depending on the cartridge, I use all different brand primers.

416TanzanYes, Ramrod, that is the report that adds to my confidence to switch to Winchester LRM.
Look at the standard deviation: 0.2046. It is the best in the field. That backs up the testimonial evidence that the Winchester magnum primers are very accurate.

TexKDI have read the same thing and I have found the same thing. I used to use all Winchester and then switched to Fed 215GM.
While I reach for the 215s more now I think the Wins do a great job and both can be as accurate as I am that day in the Magnums.
The only little thing is these newer Winchester primers seem a little bit smaller and I think I mic'd them to be too. So if you have a looser primer pocket in your brass it might slide in pretty easy, or even too easy, so you might want to check that.

SaeedWe have used Federal 215 in cases as large as the 577 T.Rex.
No problem with ignition at all.
However, they will not ignite a charge in the 700 Nitro Express reliably.
We had to use a few grains of Bullseye at the bottom of the powder charge for consistent ignition.
I use the Federal 215 match also have thousands on had. If I ever do run out I will use the WIn mag. It is the hottest primer out there.
