<Berger>380 gr in 375
theres a new 380 grain 375 H&H available in SA now. I've ordered a box and will report on its shootability.
Also,I've had great results on eland with the Sierra Game King in 300gr.

Pete MillanBerger,
Let me know what load you decide on - is S335 not going to be a bit quick for this bullet? You could duplex S365 and S335 and come out with a IMR4064 equivalent.
Cheers

<Berger>Hi Pete,
I think you are right. You've probably seen the article in magnun and I think they are recomending either a combo or S341. What was a little disturbing was the hunt report on the gemsbok. Granted that it was with a prototype but 1.5 k run with the shot described??? My goodness. I have never had a gemsbok run that distance even with a moderate shot so I hope there is not something in the bullet design. I'm going to take a big eland bull up here on the Witwatersrand that has one ear and needs taking and see if the bullet performs. I'm only going to take a side shot so I can compare it with the performance of say the 300 gr.

RikkieBerger,
Your broadside shot should leave you with a calibre-sized entrance hole, and a slightly larger exit hole. Have you started with your load development yet? I'd be interested to hear what velocities you are getting with what loads.

Pete MillanBerger,
What magnum issue are we talking about? My mags are all over the house (no binder yet)
I thought S341 would be too close to S335 for any benefit. And the muzzle flash would be incredible.
Cheers

<Berger>Its the latest issue of Magnum. I just picked mine up out of CNA. I've ordered 50 bullets. I talked to the fellow on the phone and he says he's "polishing" 1000 bullets now. I thought I would try 63 grains of S335 to start (if it will fit without too much powder compression) and see what it chronographs. I want to achieve a spot on 2150 as this, in my opinion, would bring the 375 within spitting performance distance of the 404 Jeffrey.

Pete MillanHi Berger,
OK I just picked up my copy too just today. Looks like I made a good guess with the S335/S365 duplexing. I understand Mauritz is keen on the practice. I just wish Somchem would get off their duff and give us a 4064 equivalent.
Sounds like a great bullet, but I am a little nervous of the recoil. Let us know how you do on the eland.
I just got a great deal on Barnes 300gr X bullets. Looks like PMP got too many and sold these off as surplus. Got 50 for R252 - they are packed in cardboard boxes.
Cheers

<Berger>I just picked up the same boxes of Barnes x from Champs here in Bedfordview for R255. I am told that the next price hit will be in R650 range!!!
