Why???

You won't notice any significant velocity improvement over the unmodified case WITH EQUIVALENT CHAMBER PRESSURE .

I don't mess around with either the 168 or 180 gr bullets, but my 300 Win mag M70 (26" barrel) will do the following easily.

150 gr at 3500 fps

200 gr @ 3130 fps

I stongly suspect I can get the ballistics you are after without modification of my chamber or COL (3.34" currently limited by magazine length).

The 300jarret is a better choice. It is basically a necked down and improved 8mmremmag case.

Wasn't this enough justification?

Basically, the idea is to provide lower-end Dakota\Weatherby-like ballistics but with less recoil, cheaper brass and a cartridge whose availability is greater than either of those cartridges.

If there might be feeding problems please explain. Does it have to do with the 40 degree shoulder?
