30.06 question
I reload for my garand, the load is 150gr. hornady fmjbt on top of 47.9 varget over cci lr primer, when i shoot a round even from a cold barrel the case is very hot to the touch, this does not happen with my o3 or mauser which both use varget also, any sugestions?

Welcome to the forum.
The answer to your question is the following. In a semi-auto the case is ejected from the rifle before the brass case can transfer its heat to the rifle. In a manual operated rifle the heat from the brass case is transfered to the rifle before the case is ejected.

Gas operated rifles always have hotter brass than a bolt action. Has to do with the blow back gases used to cycle the bolt.

NE 450 # 2 has a better explanation.
