N110 and N133 in 7x64
Is there any experience around with N110 and N133 in 7x64 (lighter bullets, 100 140 grs range). Intended purpose: Running Boar Target Practise and perhaps a Roe Deer Load.

Guus. N110 is NOT generally a useful powder in the 7x64. Its much too fast. In a VihtaVuori Reloading Guide there is a MAX load listed: 2.70g (41.7gr) of N120 with the Sako 5.1g (79gr) bullet, gives 1050 m/s (3445 fps). N133 should work with 100gr bullets. N135 would be better. FWIW. AKI

Aki,

Thanks for your inputs. I am aware that N110 is rather fast for the 7x64 for general applications. I do not plan to work-up a hunting load with it, I use N140 and N160 for this purpose. The purpose is to work up a training (and perhaps a roe-deer) load.
The idea got triggered that a number of sources (e.g. Visier, DWJ, various forums) have published reduced/target loads with N110 for various calibres (e.g. .30-06, .308, 7x57, 8x57, 303 and perhaps others. I have only found one load for the 7x64 (on the Triebel forum) and am inquiring whether there is wider experience available.

Guus,
For reduced loads I use H4227 with light bullets for caliber. H4227 is in the same burning rate class as N110. A fellow shooter uses H4227 as well as N110 in his .243 and .30-06 for this purpose. He says N110 is a tad faster and requires 1 or 2 grains less powder.
My reduced loads in 7x64 vary from 30 to 33 grains (depending on the rifle I am loading for) of H4227 behind a Sierra 100 grn HP bullet with COL of 80,0 mm. Velocity is approximately 820 m/s. Recoil is somewhat like a .222Rem, accuracy about 1 MOA. Very good for practice shooting and very deadly on foxes crows and cats. Don't use use them on row deer, as they are varmint bullets.
Hope this helps
