Reloading Ackley Imp???
Hey Guys, I am having a 30-06 rechambered to Ackley Imp. I was going to purchase a set of dies cut to Ackley when I had a brain fart....ouch. I have a neck sizer for the standard 30-06. Why cant I just use that? All the brass will be used for that rifle only.

Thanks
Bill

I have a .260ai that I bought dies for, mostly to neck up .243Lapus brass. I bought a set of std. .260rem neck dies from Lee, just to give them a try, & they work perfectly. The shoulder dims. should be the same from a std. to ai.

Bill, you never want to use neck-sized ammo for big game hunting. And eventually all those neck-sized cases won't fit the chamber and will need full length sizing and maybe trimming to length. The neck sizer will work for the short time, but you'll eventually need a FL sizer die.

you can keep those dies and buy a body die for when the cases need to be sized back a bit.

To really get a good fit,..use a die with the sliding support sleeve (redding comp, forester etc) and have the gunsmith run his reamer into the sleeve. That makes for a real nice tight fitting die.
