HeatWhich Chrono to Buy?
Since Jaywalker already sold his Oehler 35 (honestly I tend to buy new anyway) what is the best chrono left on the market?
One simple additional question... Do they come with appropriate mounting hardware for a tripod??

vapodogThe shooting chrony for about $70 works quite well and does easily attach to a tripod.
You can get more bells and whistles but at a price.....The "elcheapo" works extremely well!

ReloaderI've had really good luck from Pro Chrono.
Have a SC as well and it's just that, "cheap."
Good Luck

tnekkccAll chronos are 10X more accurate than they need to be. The functional problems are:
1) Cost
2) set up time
3) space required in vehicle
4) reliably trigger with each shot
5) I keep shooting them accidentally
I bought a shooting chrony and shot it.
I bought a shooting chrony and shot it.
I bought a Prochrono and shot it.
I bought a Prochono and have not shot it, yet*.
I think the Prochrono is a better machine than the shooting chrony:
1) only costs $10 more
2) sets up faster
3) far fewer failures to trigger
4) transports nicely in original box
5) presents a smaller target to accidentally shoot
* A chrono should get at least 10 good trips to the range with rifles, before it is exposed to handgun fire.
The status problems with the chrono are not a big concern for me, but last week at the Issaquah range, shooting on a bench next to me, was an AR poster getting ready for a trip to Africa. He had a Rolex brand chrono. You know who you are

stillbeemanI bought a Chrony when they first came out (God, just how long ago was that) and it's still working. It tells me what I want to know. ie, how fast my bullets are going. It is a good reloading aid.

HeatThanks for the replies guys... Yep, it's for reloading so I have some clue as to how fast their moving... I'm pretty much thinking that if I've seen no pressure signs and I'm close to where the factory ammo is then I'm done (if it's accurate as well)....

I've owned 3 chronies and one Oehler. The guy with the cap pistol has the right idea about the chronies"""shoot them""" They are a real study in poor quality and customer support.

Now where have we heard that before?
