Case neck lubrication....

Greetings,

When neck sizing only, what lubrication technique do you find most effective for the inside and outside of the neck?

What lubricants do you prefer?

After chmafering the mouth, dip the case mouth on the lube pad, straight down. This lubricates both the inside and outside, and it is doen in one easy step.

That is the method I have recently gone back to.

I've tried brushing with both lube and wax and made a mess. Tried graphite dipping and.... made an incredible mess everywhere!! Graphite simply defies gravity.

After neck sizing do you attempt to clean the lube from the inside neck area or do you just wipe the exterior?

I use moly coated shot. I made my own kit using Danzac powder and steel shot, because I coat my own bullets anyway (Danzac is like moly powder--regular moly powder would work fine). You have a small cup of shot (looks like the plastic cap of a spray paint can--what I use)and you just push the case neck into the shot and give it a twist. Puts a very thin coating of moly/dancaz on the neck and you don't have to worry about removing anything.

Hmmmm....

Something tells me I was using the graphite completely wrong!

Is it supposed to be used with shot or other similar media?

After resizing I dump the brass in an ultrasonic cleaner with MEK or TCE. This removes all the gunk on and in the case.

Scoop them out and let them air-dry (in a well ventilated place) and in around 2 minutes they are ready to be reloaded.

Like the other post I use a molly/shot combo but just bought the kit from Sinclair and it works great for everything except 17cal necks....a little molly goes a long way and I clean the inside of the neck before dusting with the molly and use bushing dies and it is so smooth!!good luck and good shooting!!

Use motor mica on a nylon brush. A tiny amount of impreial size die wax on the outside.

I have started using the graphite and find it excellent seems to be easier on your dies.

I too use graphite and use the forster kit, as on this page at sinclairs

You could also use moly with a cotton bud but with shot would be faster.
