H110 seems to be the best for heavy bullet 44 mag loads.

I have a 44 mag 94 Trapper.
It shoots the Federal Cast Core 300gr factory load real good.

However it will not function with any of the 44 Mag loads with longer than the standard [ie 240gr] OAL. The Federal 300gr load is within these specs, but most of the heavy cast bulleted loads have too long an AOL.

You must take the total OAL in consideration especially when working up starting loads as seating the heavy bullets deep enough to run through the action, can raise pressures way high.

Also the slow 1 in 38 twist may not stabilize a heavy long bullet at the velocity you can get.

beagle94ae, i just picked up a Winchester 94ae 44mag 16" myself. I'm really lookin forward to shootin it. I'm going to try some 270 or 280 Beartooth bullets in mine. Good luck an i'll post my results.

Echo N E, mine loves 300grn CastCores over 19.5-20.5grns of H110. She's a tack driver w/ that load. Also likes 300grn Nolser JHP's over the same powder charge.

Another vote for H110. By the way, I've always been impressed with the 94AE's accuracy. I came in second in a lever gun match with mine. Also got the biggest bruise on my shoulder from it. Shot over a hundred full power rounds out of it that day.
