elticeLoading 110 gr V-Max bullets
Sorry if this sounds like a bad question, I am relatively new to reloading and am new to the boards. I tried searching for this, but didn't find anything.
I am trying to load 110gr V-Max bullets to 2.8 plus inches, based on using the Hornady OAL gage and my TC Encore in 308.
When seating, the bullet is getting stuck in the seater die and not seating in the case. If I turn down the seater plug, the bullet seats too deep. I am using a RCBS die set, am I doing something wrong or should of be using a Hornady die set with the polymer tips?
Thanks,
Eric

Antelope SniperDid you try backing off your die body a 1/2 turn or so? Some RCBS dies work better if they are not ran all the way down.
The good news is RCBS stands behind their products, so if you find no easy solution here, give RCBS a call and they will take care of you.

krakyThe good news is the bullet shoots really good in the guns I've tried them in. I use hornady dies and a lee seater die from my collet die set and haven't had the problem you talk about. You might want to take apart the seater die and see if there is something about the "cup" on the seating step that grabs the plastic tip of the bullet. There's plenty of plastic tipped bullets on the market and I don't think there is anything too special about the hornady that should cause trouble.

Kevin RohrerI just follow the directions for the dies. I seat the same bullet to a OAL of 2.717" and 2.616" (the most accurate w/ IMR4198).
That 2.8" sounds like it might not be enough for the case neck to grab onto. Just a guess.
