sierra2Nosler also makes a 220 grain .308 bullet, as does Hornaday.

swheelerUnless Hornady quit making them, they make a 220 gr FMJ, I've got some left.

WarriorA-Square used to make a 220 grain dual diameter .308 Solid bullet at the time - that was before they closed; not sure if the new venture makes them.
Also Winchester used to make 220 gr Soft Points - I still have 3 packets of ammo left in 300 H&H. They are no longer available as Winchester switched to the 300 Win mag.

SD ShooterSpearfish Gunsmiths in Spearfish, SD bought out an estate and has several boxes of very early Barnes bullets in 308 round nose, 250 gr. (Yep, that's right, 250 gr.). I was there about two weeks ago and he had three boxes at $17.00 per box. Phone number is 605-642-3385.
Also, Sierra makes a 220 grain round nose in 308, but it is not a solid as in a monolithic.
And those old Winchester 220 gr. Silvertips were great. Too bad they are not still available. I think I still have 4 or 5 boxes that I have been saving for that "special" hunting trip.
Good luck

A heavy, round or flat-nose SOLID of about 4 diameters in length is what you want to use for brain shots on elephant because of their enhanced penetration and these are more likely to travel in a straight line through such material....
I believe Eleanor O'Connor used the 220-grain Hornady RN solid in her .30/'06 to kill her elephant, for example.....
