Are You getting These Velocities....

Have a look at your cartridge(s) here Conley Cartridge are you getting those speeds?
two examples;
280rem 139gn--3190fps?
35Whelen 250gn--2580fps?

I load for exactly the same velocities for bullet weight in my .375 H&H (300 grain at 2,500 fps) and my 416 Rigby (400 grain at 2,400 fps), and acheive them with no problem whatsoever.

I have no problems whatsoever with the listed velocty there for the Whelen . My Rifle Does faster than that with a 250 grain speer, using a load I got right off the Aliant web page.
the 280 speed is prety fast, I would bet there is a prety long barrel there. Remember the 280 is sammi specked a little lo preasure when compared to a .270. On a mail order basis where you can ask what type rifle is being used you could load the 280 up to higher preasure with confidence.
I would have to say the 280 load is a we bit faster than I would expect to get , but not crazy fast...tj3006

I am exceeding their velocities in 30-06 and 300 win mag and matching in the 338 win mag.

Have to admit the 280 rem 140 gr velocity seems high.

Bear in Fairbanks

From looking at the cartridges I have, I get 2925 with a 150 gr. partition in my .270 Win. and I could get close to 2950 if I pushed it a bit more.
In my .338 Mag., I easily get 2800 with a 225 North Fork. I use 225 gr. Hornady's in that caliber for load development & just fooling around. Bear in Fairbanks

The velocities are not anything that a handloader couldn't easily duplicate...

What I LOVE about Sites like that...
Is the realization that I can go out and hunt with ammo that someone is charging $40.00 for a box of 20... and I can have it in my rifle for a Lot LESS!!!!

Handloading is really a good alternative when you compare the price of regular store bought ammo... but when you get into Premium bullets it gets a lot cheaper in ratio to the store stuff...

A guy I use to work with, only went thru a box or two each season of ammo.... But he loved to buy factory stuff at the end of the season at a big discount... and then next season he would bring it to me, with a box of Premium bullets...

So I just used the bullet puller and then reseated the premium bullets and off he went!

That really isn't a bad way to fly with all the componet costs figured in if you don't really shoot that much...
