Urodoji.450-400 NE 3" Practice Loads
Has anyone loaded the .450-400 using .410 cal pistol bullets? It would seem ideal for a light recoiling practice load, or maybe a nice load for hog hunting.

doccashI shoot 410Gr. cast bullets w/ 5744 powder @1800fps and it is really fun to shoot. Would be really hard on hogs! DrC

470EvansI use a full power load with Hornady .411 300gr bullets.
Regulates in my doubles the same as the 400gr Woodleighs.

eurocentricYes I have, been using Hornady's 210gr bullets, very nice handling. PM me and I will send you all my load data. I've also used TB with 180gr bulets from Barnes

SnellstromWhat real world speeds are you guys getting with full power 400 grain hunting loads?
Curious...

470EvansIn loads that regulate I'm getting 2050fps in a 24" Jeffery 450/400 3" and I'm getting 2175fps in a 26" Evans 450/400 3 1/4 with Woodleigh 400gr bullets.
If I had a Ruger #1 in 450/400 I could get more but I'm not sure I'd try.

N E 450 No2You can also load .410 postol bullets or @325 gr bullets over 44 gr of IMR 4198, with twelve grains of dacron polyester.
This is a Nitro for Black load.
This load will be around 1700fs.
Go up or down a couple of grains until your loads hit with the sights.
YOU MUST USE THE FILLER, IT MUST BE COMPRESSED.
