.45 ACP +P Loads
I have dated .45 ACP +P data. I have no data using recently introduced power. What powder would be best for 230 grain +P loads?
Vihtavuori powders are grabbing my attention. VV-N105 & 3N38 will produce +P velocities at standard pressure limits.

hivelosityWhy + P?
45 acp works great at about 900f/s 230gr ball.
Lyman has a reloading manual for pistol/ revolver @ $20 covers about everything.
Bullseye is my go too powder

buckeyHave had amazing luck with Power Pistol and 230gr XTP's,It's my go to powder when I need to step up my game.
Good Morning Hivelosity,
230 grain +P .45 ACP loads can make a 1911 an excellent wilderness protection handgun.

hivelosityWhat velocity and pressure are you getting with the +P loads?
I would worry that over pressure may cause it to fail.

NormanConquestI have a friend that has a 45 super on a 1911 variation that was given to him from his father who was a cop in San Antonio P.D.He brought it out here to my range + we shot it (mores the pity
I did not chrony it) but it was a thumper. I have no idea what the load was.Maybe we'll figure it out down the line. His father has passed + I'm trying to get him set up in reloading. He's a minister + anyone that thinks they only work one day a week is mistaken.

Austin Hunter45 Super is great. I have a friend that used one for self-defense in WY vs a grizz. Grizz lost.
Try this for the standard 1911:

packrattusnongratusI would also say try Buffalo Bore. For plus P I use 800X or 231. Several others might work OK but I am using the 800X for 45 Super and used a 231 plus p load for a couple of years in IDPA shooting. My 1911 loved it. But I have had to replace the trigger for the second time and the barrel once. Be Well. Packy
